Part 1. Overall Mobile Phone Market in China

April domestic mobile phone shipments were 41.7 million, up 14.2 percent year-over-year(y/y). 48 new models were released in the month, up 14.3 percent y/y.

 

Over the past 4 months, domestic mobile phone shipments were 90.7 million and number of new model were 137, down 20.1 percent and 18.0 percent y/y respectively.

Part 2. Development of 5G Mobile Phones

April domestic 5G mobile phone shipments were 16.4 million, and represented 39.3 percent of the total shipments. 22 new 5G models were released in the month, accounting for 45.8 percent of the total new models released in the month.

 

YTD 5G mobile phone shipments were 30.4 million units, and the total number of new models were 65.

Part 3. Local and MNC Brands of Mobile Phones

April local brands of mobile phone shipments were 38.0 million, up 11.9 percent y/y, accounting for 91.0 percent of the total shipments. Number of new models released by the local brands were 44, increased by 25.7 percent y/y, and represented 91.7 percent of the total number of new models released in the month.

 

YTD local brands of Mobile phone shipments were 81.3 million, down 22.7 percent y/y, and accounted for 89.4 percent of the domestic mobile phone shipments. Number of new models released by the local brands were 123, decreased by 16.3 percent y/y, and represented 89.8 percent of the total number of new models.

Part 4. Development of Smart Phones

April smart phone shipments were 40.8 million, up 17.2 percent y/y, and accounted for 97.7 percent of the total shipments in the month. Over the past 4 months, smart phone shipments were 88.5 million, down 17.9 percent y/y, and represented 97.6 percent of the total shipments.

 

In April, 32 new smart phone models were released, down 5.9 percent y/y, and accounted for 66.7 percent of number of new models released in the month. Over the past 4 months, 106 new smart phone models were released, down 19.7 percent y/y, and accounted for 77.4 percent of the total number of new models.
